Hailing from Southampton, Broken Links aren’t your typical rock band. Making use of atmospheric guitar work, melancholic vocals and electronic soundscapes the UK three-piece formed by guitarist and vocalist Mark Lawrence, bass player Lewis Betteridge and Phil Boulter on drums, make dark and haunting music that’s entirely original.

Starting out with influences that range from the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails to The Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack, they offer their own unique brand of industrial leftfield alternative rock tinged with electronic instrumentation. Despite striving to offer something completely new, at the core of their sound remains their melodic and catchy vocal leads.

Since their inception in 2008, they’ve constantly pushed boundaries and taken their creative vision to new heights. Building up a loyal fanbase over the years, they’ve released three EPs and two full-length albums as well as playing live with artists such as British Sea Power, The Boxer Rebellion, InMe, My Vitriol and The Chameleons in the UK and all over Europe.

Now they bring us their latest work with their explosive new album titled Conflict::States, an angry and aggressive sonic letter aimed at the current state of the world. On the release, vocalist and guitarist Mark Lawrence explains, “People are living in a world where they think they have choices. There are no choices. We’re on borrowed time. This album is a statement of awareness to all the shit holding society back.”

Featuring some of their most reflective and profound lyricism to date, across the album they deliver the very best of their infectious rock writing. Driving guitars, pounding drums and lofty vocal work carrying their potent words all combine to make this a truly stunning modern rock release, wrapped up in perfect production that serves to add venom to the punch it throws.
